If you want to catch Mesprit when it's available in raids in Pokémon Go, then you'll need to have a good understanding of it's weakness and counters.
Mesprit can also occasionally be found in the wild, but these appearances are very rare due to its very low spawn rate and status as a regional exclusive, much like Uxie and Azelf. The regions this legendary is locked to are Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.
Depending on the in-game event, Mesprit might also be available in five-star raids. Like all Legendary Pokémon, it may be possible for you to take on Mesprit by yourself, though you may find yourself needing help. Remember - Remote Raiding now lets you partake in raids from your own home.

Everything we know about Mesprit
Mesprit, along with Uxie and Azelf, appears to be inspired by the Imperial Regalia of Japan, which are consists of three relics - the sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi, the mirror Yata no Kagami and the jewel Yasakani no Magatama.
Each piece of the Imperial Regalia of Japan represents a specific virtue - Kusanagi no Tsurugi represents valor, the Yata no Kagami represents wisdom and Yasakani no Magatama represents benevolence.
If you know your Pokémon lore, then you'll know that each of the Lake Guardians represents one of these virtues too.
As the emotion Pokémon, Mesprit represents benevolence, with the belief that it taught humans how to feel emotions, and, in turn, is the representation for the jewel Yasakani no Magatama in the Lake Guardian trio.
